Information Technology. IT. Computer. Software.

Hearing these words would have made you a little hesitant to further finish reading this blog. You may think that the topic is too technical and deep that could bring a headache if you browse until the last word.

From the moment we wake up, we check our phone for messages and missed calls, the date and time, the list of activities for today, and even the latest post of your friends in Facebook, they are part of Information Technology or IT. So what really is IT?

IT includes all tools that capture, store, process, exchange, and use information (Reynolds, 2010). The cellphone and laptop that you use while reading this is IT, including the Google Chrome or Safari browser you surf, the app that you recently installed and the flashdrive that saves all your personal files. Not knowingly, we are part of the IT world.

This pandemic made me realize the importance of IT. In a snap of finger, all of us were confined in our houses and facing our laptops while attending meetings via Zoom. Socials gatherings were prohibited and the only way we can talk to our family and friends is through video call. Amidst this COVID-19 pandemic, the lockdowns, quarantine and travel restrictions, we are all connected because of IT.

The IT Connection.

Technology is like a world full of wonders waiting for its user to explore. Understanding IT may be difficult for everyone but we cannot deny the fact that we are all connected because of IT. In a continuously globalizing world and advancing technology, IT will always be a part of our life. In the end, IT is just a set of tools that make our life much easier but the trick remains in the ability to know how to think, interpret, act and live with the information at the tip of our fingers.
